Daryl Nathan vs. Louie Gordon?

Public TV has always been a great thing. The internet is also a great thing. Together they are unstoppable as made clear by this series of clips of the Great Daryl Nathan who had his own cable access show in grand rapids MI in the mid 90's (link via WFMU's Beware of the Blog). Will he ever know he's become slightly more famous as a result? We heard some of these tracks on the show but the videos are a must to dig the true appeal (video above).

I can't help being reminded of Mofo favorite Louie Gordon who, in his own words, "is all musics" . He's pushes everything from club to smooth r and b, all unintentionally lo-fi! Shit's crazy! He also sings in falsetto like my man Daryl. I found his cd in a pile of station mail but he's got mp3s and video clips on just about every free promo site out there (sans recent majors like myspace and youtube). He claims to have over 2000 songs across the internet and with every google search and link chase turning up new material I'm starting to believe him! While he may have dipped into public tv (I'm pretty sure all his videos are re-edited porn) the internet has been his main way of staking a claim in the entertainment industry. Perhaps we'll see his shit re-uped in future internet meme?

A final apology for the time switcharoo last week. Some last minute subs were needed and summertimes are chill like that. The result was my spanning parts of two timeslots for a mega marathon show featuring a lot of old favorites.

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July and are all ready to get back into the grindstone this week. Be sure to end your work day with Mofo Radio at the regular time, 10pm this week. But be sure to grab a drink and get those feet up before you do so.
