Mofo goes live!

As rumored in last week's show, I'll be joining you live this week at the Great Scott! Drew will be holding down the fort at WZBC but if you're in the mood to catch some live music check out the schedule for this Wednesday:

It all starts with the Mobius Band show where I'll be spinning between sets. If you're not in the mood to see a show, but are REALLY in the mood for a late night party, role up afterwards around 12:30 when admission is free. From that point on I'll be rocking party music till whenever they let me.

Kinda pissed I'll be missing Low Budget at Underbar, but also kinda glad I don't have to deal with the ticket run around. Plus no one's gonna hate on you if you role up to the Great Scott wearing sweat pants, I promise.

New Cadence Weapon in last week's set. B-More music from Amphibious. Biz Markie (of course), Moonfou (research needed), Kenny Barron (old school), Lilly Allen finally dropped (see previous post), more and more! See for yourself! And come out Wednesday if you need a fix of the Mofo. See you then!

Back in action!

If you weren't keeping track, last week was the first fall edition of Mofo Radio. The kiddies are all back to school now so things are sure to get raging over at WZBC. Be on the lookout for new shows and an eventual new program schedule.

Started things off with the Mighty Voices of Wonder who's rare piece of gospel funk appears on Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal out on Numero Group. I've got to credit Soul Sides once again for the link on this one. Numero Group themselves has some of the best ideas in crate digging I've heard lately. Definitely one to watch.

Also heard from something new called The Sao Paulo Underground featuring Rob Muzarek of Chicago Underground fame among other projects. Here he cooks up all sorts of jazz, electronic, and now Brazilian influences into one kickin stew. His personal website also features rad art/sound + vision which is worth a look.

Much love also goes to the Hot 8 Brass band and their music. On my few weeks off I caught the Spike Lee Katrina doc in it's entirety and that shit is on the real. I won't get too into the buzz surrounding the film but I will say I'm disgusted by accusations that Spike has added some sort of racist slant to the situation (as if one hadn't existed for years before hand). The film features tenants who resided in the effected areas of New Orleans, including members of the Hot 8. There are a bunch of MP3's available on their sight, and an album for sale, so be sure to find out for yourself, these guys are the real deal.

That's all I got for this week. We'll do it all again tomorrow. Same Mofo place and time. Peace easy,
