Stevie in Japan.
Not to be on a total Japan kick as of late but I couldn't resist this album cover featuring Syreeta and Stevie. I'd be interested to find out if they're still married in this photo, although they worked together long after their 18 month legal union. In this week's
abbreviated show we heard the classic single Harmour Love, the couple's actual last collaboration together, which would appear two years later on Syreeta's album One to One. Not the greatest melody in the world, but production and arrangement alone make it one hell of a single.
Also heard a little 666 mark of the beast tribute and mofo radio blog throwback from Amanda Leer with some help from Giuliuo on ÂBlood and Honey." The old link doesn't work anymore but this track is too good not to re-up.
Amanda Leer and Giuliuo ÂBlood and Honey"Should also up this
Dear Nora/Casiotone for the Painfully alone jam. Big ups to
Gory for sliding the isolated track my way. Was also featured in the most recent
Mad Decent podcast.
Finally a plea for you to check out
Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid's The Exchange Session Vol.1 (and Vol. 2) on Domino Records. Fourtet brings the expected electronic mastery with help from drummer extraordinaire who has played with James Brown, Fela Kuti, Miles Davis, and Charles Tyler to name a few! My man is even up on his web game. Be sure to
check him out.
I'll be on the radio in the very near future. Hope to see you there!
