Happy New Year and glad to be back in 07! First show of the season kicked off last week. Here's the playlist if you were still in holiday mode.
Some more ghetto and juke music last week, the center piece of which came from DJ Hotboy Smooth out of Chicago. Check him out with the rest of his crew at Certified DJ's. Playlist above returned in a google search off someone'simeem, which seems like a more media friendly myspace based on the Dawkins meme? Could be worth checking out. Make sure your speakers are bassed out when checking out these Smooth tracks though. You'll see why.
Sister Charmaine called out Brooklyn later in the show with a few early ninetiesdancehall 12"s out of Brooklyn and Queens. Money Talks was one of Cutty Ranks top singles in 1991 repressed on Gold Disc. Mary (on Lambada records) and Hood Top (labelled Shelly's Records) are weird singles also from 1991 distributed by V.P. and Super Power Records respectively.
Check out some Internet radio offerings from TodoMundo. DJ Lone Wolf with main dudes Septimus Smith and Dania Shapes bring freeform radio mayhem with plenty of hijinks and banter in between. We're already twoepisodes in but I think there's a full weeks worth promised so catch up quick over at the TudoMundo blog.
That's all I got for this week. Get at me tomorrow evening, same time same place. Till then.
